At NeedVideo, we take copyright seriously. Every video we produce uses properly licensed music, and we always provide license documentation with delivery. Still, YouTube’s Content ID system sometimes flags music incorrectly — even when you have the legal right to use it. Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you resolve a music copyright claim quickly and confidently.
Step 1: Confirm the Claim
Go to Your videos tab.
Find the video with the claim and click “See Details.”
Verify that the claim is related to the music track and not something else.
Step 2: Dispute the Claim
Choose “Dispute.”
Click Continue.
Click License and continue.
You’ll be asked to pick a reason — select “I have a permission to use the content from the copyright owner.”
Locate the music license file we provided with your video. This may be a PDF or confirmation email from the music licensing platform (such as InAusio, Epidemic Sound, AudioJungle, etc). Copy the highlighted information.
Step 3: Fill Out the Dispute Form
Paste the required details, check the boxes, add your full name, and click Submit.
Step 4: Submit and Monitor
Submit the dispute. YouTube will notify the rights holder and give them up to 30 days to respond.
